Original Overview and Purpose:

The “Hoy Es Por Ti” Dulce Fabian Scholarship's purpose is to raise awareness about abuse by allowing students to appreciate and express themselves through art as a positive outlet. Raising awareness about how damaging and/or life-changing abuse can be when experienced directly or indirectly through a loved one provides a more accepting, aware, and resourceful environment. Abuse can be done in many forms: improper use of something; substance misuse or physical cruel or violent treatment including mental, verbal, sexual, and emotional. Abuse can be hard to accept which can lead to unaware negative/bad behavior or life choices.

In memory of Dulce Fabian, a proud and loving sister, a Mexican daughter, friend, aunt, student, and soul full of life: this scholarship seeks to provide students with the ability to receive financial assistance to pursue higher education as well as motivate and provide a sense of belonging and safe the youth to express themselves to raise awareness on abuse the youth experience. In establishing this scholarship, Dulce’s sisters, Maria and Beronica fabian wish to honor her dedication to continued education, passion for helping others, and appreciation for art.
